I have been teaching Nia and changing lives and bodies for 9 years. When I
ventured into my first Nia class by accident at age 50, I had a big "ah ha"
moment. The hour slipped by so fast - my heart was pumping with joy and I was
glistening with sweat and having so much fun - the workout was an extra
benefit. My body awakened to sensation of power and grace. I had
experienced many group classes and home tapes in my lifetime, but this was like
no other. I felt grounded, energized, fluid, serene and euphoric all at the same
time. I flew to Texas and certified in White Belt, then Blue and now Brown Belt.
This practice fills all my needs for exercise, strength, cardio, stretch, dance, fun,
meditation and self- healing . I lost cellulite, dropped 2 dress sizes, lifted my
butt and toned my entire body. I am in the best physical shape I have ever been.
We use many genres of music, drums and dance in diverse and invigorating
classes as we discover more about our marvelous bodies, minds, spirit and
emotions.
Dancing is now my passion and inspiration is my purpose. I am also a certified
Ballroom dance teacher and a Zumba Gold instructor. I practiced hot yoga for 8
years, studied marital arts and helped my late husband in training, racing and
breeding horses. As a caregiver, Nia gave me a place to release my emotions
and renew my spirit. Nia empowered me to start a teaching career in my 50's
and look forward to the future. My mission is to inspire everyone to find joy
through movement - through movement we find health.
Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass -
it's about learning to dance in the rain!
We don't stop playing because we grow old -
we grow old because be we stop playing.
